We don’t listen to anything else from 2000 years ago, and there’s no way some of the stuff in the Bible is true. I don’t know why so many people swallow it with no real evidence or without questioning it.

At the same time, you can’t rule it out as completely untrue. I’m pretty sure people in the future will read about some of the shit that happens today and mock people for believing it as well. Everything is a little bit ridiculous to some extent.
